Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about how the recommendation works, what it costs, and what happens with your report.

What does Fix or Replace Auto actually do?

You tell us about a repair estimate and your vehicle, and we compare the real cost of fixing it against the real cost of replacing it — including tax, fees, and financing, not just the sticker price. You get a clear recommendation: fix it, get another quote, replace it, or too close to call.

Isn't this just repair cost vs. my car's value?

No — that shortcut gets it wrong more often than you'd think. A $4,000 repair on a car worth $6,000 can still be the right call once you factor in what replacing it would truly cost after tax, fees, and financing. We also weigh your vehicle's age, mileage, condition, and repair history, never a single fixed ratio.

What does it cost to use on the website?

Entering your information and seeing the estimate flow is free. Getting your actual recommendation costs $0.99, or $1.99 for that plus a full PDF report emailed to you with the complete cost breakdown and reasoning.

Is my payment secure?

Yes — payments are processed entirely by Stripe, a major payment processor used by millions of businesses. We never see or store your card details.

Can I get a refund?

If something went wrong on our end — a payment went through but you didn't get your recommendation or report — contact us and we'll make it right.

Do I need to create an account to use the website version?

No. The website flow is fully anonymous — no sign-up required. If you want your vehicles and decisions saved for later, that's available in the Fix or Replace Auto mobile app.

Will my information be saved anywhere?

On the website, no — each visit is a one-time, anonymous estimate. Nothing you enter is stored unless you request the $1.99 emailed report, in which case we generate and send that one PDF and don't keep a copy.

Is this mechanical, financial, or tax advice?

No. Fix or Replace Auto provides estimates to help you think through a repair-versus-replace decision. It doesn't replace a qualified mechanic's inspection or a financial professional's advice.

When is the mobile app available, and on what platforms?

Fix or Replace Auto is coming soon to iOS and Android. Get notified at launch.
